Iron and I had an interesting idea tonight. We were talking about rescuing pilots. Here's the gist of the conversation.

There are lots of score hounds in Aces High. Lots of guys will fly 25 miles with a damaged plane to RTB.

So, how about this? If you bail out, it's a capture, right? What if we could pick up downed (but alive) pilots in a c47 or m3?

The goon pilot would earn points for each pilot rescued; the capture would turn into a ditch (or safely rtb) for the rescued pilot.

If a goon pilot goes on a rescue mission, he gets a special c47 which is lightly armed. This c47 would not carry troops or field/vehicle supplies. The gun(s) would be manned by the pilot or the first pilot rescued.

Killing a goon full of downed pilots would earn kills on a proportionate basis.

Finally, not only would this be fun, it would promote civility in the arena (at least on your side.) I can just imagine pilot W at location x.y.z trying to talk someone into coming after him. The guy flying the goon is saying "aren't you the jerk who cursed me last week? No Thanks!"

I throw my 2 cents in on this idea. I would love to see it. I would be flying the transport to get people all the time.

Our squad has staged missions based on rescues.

Pilot ditches in remote section of enemy territory.
C-47 with 12 escorts comes and gets him. (Goon lands, he .efs and .joins goon)
Escorts bring him home.

It would be great fun Curly!

I would like to see it too. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see any issue for adding this feature. We already have M3, C47 and PT boats.
Btw, this would make the flying boats useful in the MA too...

Care to enlighten me as to how you are gonna land said goon to rescue said pilot with all these trees around now? Unless of course you take the rifle outta the pilots hands and give him an ax and then he has to chop down enough trees to make a landing strip before he can be rescued.

Now, you see, THAT's why I want the Catalina in the game...

The Catalina rescued lots of pilots in the Pacific, and... well, there are no trees in the sea, so rescuing downed pilots is feasible

I've had very few problems landing with all them trees around +) Turning around/takeoff can be a b#tch though. Perhaps HT could model a few fields or meadows where trees do not grow. The downed pilot would have to find his way to one of these areas so that he could be picked up.

The largest drawback to this idea that I can see is this:

SOMEONE PLEASSSSSEEEEE COME PICK ME UP!!

Exactly Skurj. I mean people seem to expect "6" calls. I think demands to be rescued would be worse

I'd love an amphib plane. No matter the country or model; Sunderland, Catalina, Blomm & Voss, IJN or whoever. Make it invisible to radar though in the MA and an vehicle type (vis range) icon. So it can scout as they had in RL. Sure beats making C-47s act as patrol planes in any Pacific scenario
