mic volume vz microphone
« on: March 15, 2002, 02:47:06 PM »
last nite using the new voice feature the rest of my squad kept telling me they could barely hear me. I checked every setting and no matter what i did they said i sounded faint. If i put the mic 2 inches from my mouth they could hear me fine. After i squeaked about having the mic right in my face they all started talking about how they had their mic in their face as each and everyone of them was using a headset. I sounded fine to myself when i did the /.radio 5 test to myself. I have a head set but i prefer to just use the speakers

What gives?
note the same mic sounded fine using rw the day before and nothing else has changed.
Can voice be programmed to give more output on the server end?

thanks
ruki

btw this new version souns really cool if your in a tower and a plane goes by i can now hear the engine sound change from one speaker to another as it passes by.

Same problem as Ruki though I haven't loaded up the 1.09.1 patch yet and this may fix it.

I did extensive testing between my two computers at home and found I could barely hear AH voice over the other sounds (especially engine noise). The solution I found to this problem:

Turn the master volume slider for sound down to 50% or less (which doesn't affect AH Voice volume), then increase your sound system's volume (by slider or the real world knob) to get the same volume level you used to have. Now AH voice will be louder relative to the rest of the in-game sounds.

I could only get AH Voice to work in the MA. Am I right in guessing AH Voice is only supported in the arenas since there is no server for HtH and LAN play?

It was in my end, I had a failed install of the audigo soundblaster drivers and that caused my problems was.
(I did a wrong installataion when xp drivers was updated and instead of updating, the original drivers where deleted and none was replaced lol).

Just removed them and reinstalled then all okay

This is definetely program related.  Here's what happened last night.  When I logged on the only squad member on was CPR.  He and I spent at least 30 minutes tweaking my system because he kept telling me that I sounded so low that he had to turn off his engine sounds in order to hear me even faintly.  After all this time going crazy and wondering what the hell was going on, RAFBADER logged on.  First thing I did was to key the mike and ask for a radio check.  Here comes Bader with his Maine accented and Texas twang corrupted voice saying; Five by Five.  Rest of the night I'm flying around talking to Bader with no problem with CPR only barely hearing me while I could clearly hear both of them.
We need another patch boys!  Have faith it will come.

I got a P4 1.7 mhz  Geforce 2 Ti, with 256 ddr pc2100 memory running under XP.  DSL connection.

Before 1.09  AHV worked fine.  But I got this new PC Friday and when I had my old PC AHV didnt let me talk.  I can hear but I couldnt Xmit.   Roger Wilco works fine on both PCs.  My squaddies cant hear me xmit.  I got three different mics, so I know they are not the problem.  I tried the onboard sound card and a PCI soundcard.  It has to be a software glitch. A lot of squad members cant use AHV for the same reason.:o

Same kind of problems here with AHVoice.  My squaddies say they can hear me OK, but I can barely hear most of them.  Every once in a while, I connect with someone I can hear just fine though.

I haven't changed systems, and RW worked great.   I don't recognize most of my squaddies voices anymore either - most sound tinny, garbled, and weak.

I wish there was a way to disable AHVoice.  I'd go back to RW in a heartbeat.

Someone suggested that you change your sound acceleration all the way down in DXDIAG

I will try it and post again

its in your systems, you all need to just reset your mic sens. and the master volumn controls within AH and your systems.  I had the same problem at first and had to adjust some settings on my system & AH. I use SB Live and Aurel Plat on my office puter and had to adjust both systems accordingly.

Ok it worked a little but the mic settings are turned all the way up and boosted and still it is too low.  Will have to wait for HTC to patch it I guess:confused:

TRY THIS as a temporary solution.

My squad has been experiencing the same sort of problems too.  Here's what we do to fix it.

While in AH
ALT TAB to desktop
goto Sound settings, and recording options
cycle your mic boost button - make sure you finish in the "ON" position

-->> Presto it works again.., for a while <<--

I think AH voice is intermittently deactivating the 20db boost.

Hope it works for you guys...
