BOELCKE'S DICTA

Try to secure advantages before attacking. If possible keep the sun behind you. Always carry through an attack when you have started it. Fire only at close range and only when your opppment is properly in your sights. Always keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be decieved by ruses. In any form of attack it is essential to assail your opponent from behind. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to evade his onslaught, but fly to meet it. When over the enemy's lines, never forget your own line of retreat. Attack on principle groups of four or six. When the fight breaks up into a series of single combats, take care that several do not go for one opponent.

Pretty much sums it all up doesn`t it?

Hey Hristo, i avoid HO religously - thats my number 1 rule. So never would have i had a shot to take in anything like a HO. I discod before i could get him.

BTW, i was quite annoyed at the time, and this thread probably was not called for. So i apologise.
It is damned anoying tho - Lets not forget he HAD the advantage.

He lived cause i discod (and prolly for having a faster plane).

I was pissed off. Good point.

This is where i disagree. The best way to avoid the HO is to set it up so i looks like you going to take it, then avoid it by a break turn or barrel roll. I do this all the time. I myself arent going for HO.

My point was he was in a superior climbing plane with a significant advantage in E. How about some basic ACM???

In a spit i aint gunna let him take a rear quarter shot if i can help it. I will turn into him to avoid it. My original point was to start with he had the advantage made one pass then ran (in a dive). giving up his advantage. I have seen better than this.
