Flight Models and egos - how good ARE we ??
« on: June 17, 2002, 08:14:54 PM »
I thought crossed my mind the other night as I was stumbling round the MA getting killed, augering and swapping rides "because Spits don't stall as bad" and "205's accelerate better" and any other reason to give myself an excuse why I was flying like a dweeb ........   if the plane I grabbed had the skin of a 205 and the flight model of a P47 would I REALLY notice - or would I just fly it like a 205 ???

How many of us, if given a copy of AH with all the flight models and aircraft skins mixed up, could really pick them out and say "well it looks like a 109G10 but its actually a P51" ..... probably less of us than we care to admit :)

It would be very interesting if there was a mode in AH where you were randomly assigned a flight model to the 3d model of your choice and you were then required to guess the type of aircraft it is upon exiting it and you keep getting the same flight model until you guess right.

I think you would find, you can tell some planes from others better than you think, but overall it would be very educational. You would be forced to learn the subtle differences between each aircraft. Sounds really good to me. Would give people something challenging to do in offline mode.

If it was a P-51 modeled like a M8, I could tell!!  Other than that, I would not have a clue!  :)

But then again FMs are not my bag, having fun is!!  :)
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
