No name given!
« on: June 18, 2002, 04:50:10 PM »
Ok the other thread was closed but I just wanted to point out that I never named anyone for hacking in that other thread nor am I going to now.

I did in fact turn in a video a long time ago showing a certain someone doing something impossible.

Did I name names in public? NO! I let HTC handle it.

Like I said before the reason people don't talk about cheaters/hackers more is because of the cheerleaders who are ready to defend them before they are even named.

Cheer away! I'm done with this.
I have been reborn a new man!

Notice I never said a better man.

Cheerleaders? yer full o crap +)  or don't have any friends.

Talk about cheats/hacks is bad for the game, bad for everyone.  Cries of cheat (real or imagined) has destroyed other games in the past.  There is no need for it.
Calling cheat in here or in the MA, is like some of the 'acting' we are seeing in the world cup right now...

i've been flying on-line for 3 years, i have never seen a cheat.

don't mean it don't happen, i just gotta think it's a REAL rare occurance.

y'know, every night there are a couple of new newbies asking for help. it gets a little annoying, but its a sign the game is growing.
the word is getting out that this a a great game. HTC has little to worry about.

this the best sim by far on the net. probably the best game of any kind out there.

AH fuggin' rawks, doodz.
all you fascists, you're bound to lose...

If you've never seen one, it's only because you missed it. (I've only seen in fact ONE).

RE: Mitsu's screen shots of 2 p51's dropping hundreds of 1000lb bombs a couple years ago.  I'm sure the two who did it are no longer with us, and that was  a LONG time ago.  I've never seen anything remotely close in comparison.

For me, seeing is believing...but considering the amount of time I fly now, thats not really gonna happen anytime soon.
HOWEVER,

One swallow does not make a Summer

I think these sudden rampant sightings (or not sightings) of invisible planes, Panzers, troops outa thin air is complete garbage and based mainly on paranoia. Now any type of mysterious activity is the result underground mad hacking cheaters suddenly populating AH...and I think its bollocks.

Quite frankly toejam just happens from lag to cpu farts, and people should just take a chill pill, and calm down.
HTC and co are on to it and always have been, and thats good enough for me.  Thats not naivety or cheerleading, thats acknowledging that Hitech and co. just know their product better than all of us.

Especially considering 99.9999999% of the time, the same players are always yelling cheat when they've been out flown.

No one should ever come to this board and say "cheat". Whether it's true or not, the poster will be vilified, and the person in question, guilty or not, will have his/her name associated with cheating. True.

This does not mean there haven't been times I suspected someone of cheating. There are situations where someone performed acceleration in situations it couldn't happen, climbed waaaaay farther and faster than possible under the circumstances, etc. I am not sending pics or film to anyone, because frankly I don't think it's that big of a problem. I just avoid those people.

I am not a low-time AH pilot. I am not given to yelling wolf. I have seen things happen that are very suspicious, and I'm sure most of you have. We all know that discussions of cheating flooding the board will not help the game, because it is a game built on trust. I'm sure cheating happens, but I am just as sure it doesn't happen that much.

I always try to keep an eye out for odd/strange/wierd things and have never EVER seen anything yet that made me even THINK I was seeing a hack.  Im sure its possible though.  It has happened in the past.

I think its been made abundantly clear what to do if you see something.  Bring it DISCREETLY to the attnetion of HTC and let it go at that.  If your the paranoid type then your having trouble in more things than just playing online games.  Dont let the paranoid bug get into your system.  Its unhealthy.

AH biggest problem has been its big surge in popularity over this past year.  Chances are tremendous that the recent fears of a minority few are far more a result of way too much server load.  HTC has already said 1.10 is designed to handle increased server load stress.

Cheer up for Christ sake.
