Another Stupid Idea for a CT Set-Up:
« on: June 29, 2002, 12:18:58 PM »
This idea just came to me yesterday.  What do you think?

1.  All fields get C-47 and one randomly chosen bomber (Axis for Axis, Allied for Allied).
2.  All SMALL fields get ONE randomly chosen fighter (Axis for Axis, Allied for Allied).
3.  All MEDIUM fields get TWO randomly chosen fighters (Axis for Axis, Allied for Allied).
4.  All LARGE fields get THREE randomly chosen fighters (Axis for Axis, Allied for Allied).
5.  No one but the CM knows which planes each side will get for each base they capture.  So capturing bases is like a big Easter egg hunt!

This could be run as a ETO East or West set-up, or as a Pacific set-up.  Base captures would be plentiful.  You never would know what plane you would get for the next base capture, maybe Tempest at the next base capture for the Allies, or maybe 262 for the Axis.  When one country has 1945 planes up against 1940 planes, a capture should be a cinch.  But on capture they might find themselves in exactly the opposite situation, or maybe it will end up being a somewhat fair match.
There would also be an incentive to go for the medium and large fields because you would be rewarded with 2 or 3 different plane types.

Interesting.....

Don't leave out the carriers though. Have Seafires on one as a RN Task Force and Hellcats on the other as a USN Task Force.

How about starting with a couple of carriers each side. You could destroy the fleet and capture one of the home ports then you would get that sides carrier.

The fleets could be the "wildcard" by moving around - the other side would have to defend against invasion from the sea.

I like it, why not?

Every base is a "wildcard" anyway!

The "Kiss" principle, is generaly a good one, if it is to difficult to understand then people will get frustrated, it may sound fun to you and me but it may frustrate some and turn other away.

Brady,
Is this idea simple or complex, in your opinion?

Do you like it?

Do you think most CT goers would like it or not?

I agree with brady, eskimo.  The average consumer will find this setup confusing at first.  And as it stands now, people will leave rather than try to figure it out.

I would have to say No I do not think it would play very well, I am afraid people would tend to get frustrated and log, a lot of players simply do not spend enough time on line to appricate the novality of looking toward what the next plane choice is at the next field, they may capture it find they dont like that plane(or the one apposing them) and log.

Well defined parameters and easy to understand objectives are apt to keep people tuned in, if it is too off the wall they will run home to the MA.

This is of course my oppenion, and not nescessarly that of the other CT staffers.

I dont see what is so confusing.  Half the time visitors dont take bases and if they are they are only milkrunning.

I think it would be a fine setup.

I really really like the idea of small fields producing only one fighter type etc.  I think that should be a more common addition to the ct.
