Put TOD on Hold

Here is my question..

If the TOD's go on hold, does that not mean that all events should go on hold?  My thing is, you all are talking about postponing TOD's.  It's not a TOD problem, its an SEA problem, and I am curious about Sunday's Snapshot coming up.  (Am planning on attending, aswell as a few of my squaddies, as a practice for future TOD's.)  Wanna see whether it's still gonna go or not.

and btw, I just registered No. 272 Squadron Whispering Death for TOD's.

Business as usual this weekend. Snapshot will be held this Sunday. :)

Correct it is not a TOD problem, but a SEA problem. All our events are held in the SEA, so all our events have a problem/s.

Just participated in the Snapshot. Flew around for 70 mins then froze after shooting up a b17. Had to reboot the computer as it was a fatal crash.

This is a hard decision because I love these and find them to be the most enjoyable part of the game. But I will not participate in any more of these till the host is fixed, whatever the problem is.

I have done many pingplotters and reconfigured my computer every which way and have not been able to fix the constant CTD and Discos. No fun.

Good luck all.

Lag seemed to come and go for me, one moment its rock solid, the next...laaaaaaaag...

I'm all for whatever the majority wants to do in regards to postponement.

There is going to have to be a patch to address this issue, which  I am 100% sure exists outside of individual hardware.  My whole squad locked-up simulataneously in Snapshot.  There are significant bandwidth or server issues. but I think this particular phenomenon is not bandwidth related.

The reason TODs are mentioned is because that is where it is most painfully obvious there are issues.  getting near 200 people into the SEA really brings out the lag beast.   It's not nearly as bad when we're running a snapshot with 50-100 people.  In fact, the lag issues are almost not even there.

The freezing and disco problems are not solely in the SEA/CT for me.  I freeze and disco from the MA as well.  However, I don't get insane text lag and massive spikes in variance AND pings on Net Status in the MA.  I think the freeze issues are separate from the connection issues.

Show up on Wed night for the Snapshot and we'll see how things go.  The CMs that are going to the Con will get to sit with the HTC guys and see what they'll tell us.  We'll tell you something next week after the rest of the CMs get filled in on our forum. (basically repeating what the others have said.)

I have to agree as well.

We were about 3 minutes into flight when I was switched to TCP. A couple minutes later, I was out. Took me another couple to get back in.

Now I was in a Val all by myself going to A1. Needless to say, when I was spotted by F4Fs, it was all over but the crying.

TODs are great fun when they work, but warps and lags and random discos are really ruining them :(

Sadly I've given up on the Friday TOD as well. The usual alcohol consumption and tiredness because of a 4am Saturday start coupled with the gaurenteed lag followed by the dreaded switch to TCP and finally discooooo have made the main thing I look forward to (In AH) :D a complete washout. The snapshot on Sunday followed the now familiar pattern which to me points to a more basic issue than pure numbers. I'm only a poor 56k person (Lack of ADSL/Cable etc in my area rather than funds being the cause) :( But all arenas apart from the MA (Where I have very few problems) have taken a turn for the worse recently. Apart from the Lag issue my pings are a full 50 -70 less in the MA than the other arenas. Previous experience tells me HTC will sort it but the frustration isn't any the less for it.

HTC has rerouted the SEA so we should end up with more capacity and much more stable connects.
