Vox stopped receiving :(
« on: August 29, 2002, 04:39:55 PM »
I haven't seen this one in my searches here so here goes:  in the past week my system has suddenly stopped receiving vox (packets?) online.  I can xmit 5x5 to folks all day but no responses are getting back to me.  When they xmit I do not see their ID show up in the upper right corner of the screen (even though we are on the same channel and they can hear me fine) so I'm guessing the packets aren't making it to my PC.  BTW the same holds true if I tune to myself and talk.. no ID indicator.. no voice  :(.  All other sounds work fine.

I have a cablemodem and linksys router setup at home which makes me think the router settings have gotten buggered by some recent (t-storm induced) power surges.  Although they look correct to me maybe there is something more subtle.  Last night I tried setting my PCs IP to be the DMZ with no joy..

Any ideas/tips to get this going would be greatly appreciated,
Sqrl

Best way to check that would be just to connect directly in avoiding the router. If it works then you know what it is.

Thanks Aurelius :)  I figured out the problem.. My PC had gotten a different IP address (ala DHCP) and the router's packet forwarding for ports in the 2000-3000 range was sending them to the wrong place.  This a potential issue for folks with multiple PCs on the same router using DHCP.  My next goal is to get static IP's going on my local side and forgo DHCP altogether.

Best,

This same thing happens to me (and a few others on our squad).  It appears to have something to do with the connectivity problems everyone is experiencing.  Starts when the "Lost UDP" error message appears while I'm using a dialup to connect instead of DSL.
