Changes to Oct 11th Setup
« on: October 12, 2002, 02:57:48 AM »
S!

I've made some changes to the Norway '44 setup.  They are:

Removed Spit IX and Typhoon from available aircraft on captured Norwegien fields.  Made the F6f5, F4U-1, Seafire, SBD and TBM available.

The intent of this setup is to pit the Luftwaffe against the British Carrier based aircraft, not to have the usual Spit IX versus every German type duel.

For someone who is determined to fly Spit IX's or Tiffies, they can fly them off the British Orkney Island bases where they remain available.

So here is modified setup:

>>>>>>>

"Norway '44"

Knights are German

Rooks are British

Churchill has convinced Eisenhower to allow British Forces
to liberate Norway in the Summer of 1944.

British Carriers with the latest U.S. Navy built Fighters
are on station off Norway, along with powerful Task Forces
of Battleships and Cruisers.

Hitler is determined to hold Norway for its valuable supplies
of Strategic minerals.  He commmits his last BattleCruiser Squadron.

Very nice setup! .

We (880) did fly a few Spitfire missions, mainly because the CVs were far off shore, and away from the action. Be happy to fly F4Us more often. Suits us just fine, cant catch the running 190s anyways in a Spitty :)

Btw, I understand it was probably an A-G ordnance decision, but the Fleet Air Arm used the Corsair IV (F4U-1D) in 1944, not the birdcage version. No big deal, they perform pretty close, just a historical point. The FAA did have the F4U-1 but only the early batches.

Thanks again for remembering the Royal Navy in the CT!

Later.
