Operation Overlord
« on: June 06, 2000, 07:27:00 AM »
Today marks the anniversary of D-Day, in many minds the beginning of the end of a horrific war. We should all take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of our fathers, uncles and grandfathers (and mothers, grandmothers, and aunts) - on both sides- during this terrible time and how far we have come since then.

It is amazing to me how much the world has changed in the last 10-15 years with the advent of the internet. In Aces High, we can play wargames, in fun, with or against folks who, in times past, may have been "our enemies". This BBS in itself is an excellent example of far we've come - with the exception of some head butting it is generally a civil discussion.

War is a nasty business with no winners.
We are all winners here in Aces High.

Peace -

Sour

I fly the American flag on a flagstaff everyday of the year in memory of those who fought for the democracy and freedom that  we have  today.  D-Day was  a joint effort of all allied nations and the "Underground" to rid not the German people, but a madman that had stormed Europe for 5 years previous.  Let  us hope that we always learn from history, and let  it never  repeat itself.  God bless those who made  the ultimate sacrifice, for  God, for Country.

My course is endless through the year.
I bow all heads and break all hearts,
All owe homage-I am Fear.

Read my lips:

I shall not become a politicians, nor shall I try to enslave the USA and make all the cute brunettes mine.

I did not have sex with that sheep.

Comrades, you have nothing to worry about. Better red than dead.

Just relax, put the flag up and go back to watching Rikki Lake while I, uh, do some preparation for a...picknick.

<S!> to all who fought
