of nice detailed 3d virtual cockpits when we don't have virtual reality head gear that can move in response to the movements of the head....

the technology is available (in the apache helecopter's chin cannon control), it just seems not to have been implemented for our sims yet...

I use a trackball mounted to my joystick.

Works better, and is cheaper, than TrackIR... and it doesn't wear out like hats do. (can only use it for Il2 tho)

It does give a good impression of head movement, and is easy to use. Requires your own modding.. I had to add duct tape to the lil' metal balls so it would move slower (and smoother in the game).

The technology has been here for years.  I remember flying Flight Unlimited with Virtual I/O glasses back in 1995.  The little monitors in those things sucked at 320X240 and would give you a headache after an hour of flying, but the head tracking worked great.  There's gotta be something better for monitors by now, no?  Maybe not?
