p2p advice?
« on: November 28, 2002, 02:55:19 AM »
I'm currently using Imesh since I discovered Kazaa lite was no longer supported (anyway... was starting to get real slow)

The ones I have used so far are:
Napster
Audiogalaxy
Kazaa (lite)
Edonkey

What are you using as p2p program ? (I'm mainly looking for Mp3 & movies, not software).

And what is it with pple putting up fake files ??? I downloaded the last James Bond last night... only to end up with some cheap/poor hungarian porn ?!?!

For those about to comment about p2p not being "adequate", blah blah... start your onw thread & p** off :p

Edonkey network only.

Not exactly the Edonkey client, but eMule - http://www.emule-project.net

So far it's the most technicaly advanced P2P system.

Thanks guys, that Emule project looks cool, but I remember Edonkey being so *slow*.

And to answer your question Dowding, I don't know... but I sure can tell you I picked up pretty fast the fact that I was not looking at a big US-like film :D

Emule stores sources from every server he connects to. He also exchanges source lists and server lists with other clients. In fact it can work even without connection to server, only without search.

I pasture my artiodactyl at "closed" Russian-only servers, but when I want to DL something English-only I connect to some "foreign" servers and in a few minutes collect enough sources to get anything fast.

Popular films that were "released" into eDonkey recently are very fast to DL. Usually takes one night to get them. But if you want to fish for something rare - you have to be patient. It took me 1.5 months to DL "Das Boot" on 2 CDs with a good Russian translation...

Now I search for "K-19 the Widowmaker" in decent quality. I don't want to pay $3 for a CD with a screener translated to Russian.

Uhhh Boroda, if you haven't seen K19 yet... don't spend any money on that! (well, I thought it was slow).

I want to see what all the scandal with the scanario was about. And some people on this board said it's worth seeing.
