HT,

I have seen many posts lately deriding your damage model.

Now, it has always been my assumption that the damage model is far more advanced than one would expect from what they see of the damage graphics.

And it seems, although I might be crazy, that the duration of oil leaks vary in the same plane as do other types of similar damage.

Could you please post some data with regard to the DM?

Thanks

F.

dont let JB42 see this LOL... he's been getting "radiator" hit from directly above in a 109 (actually like 5-6 sorties in a row "radiator" hit from various angles:()

i would also like to see the basics behind the damage model myself.. how it works and such so i can better understand the game.
I don't know what to put here yet.

this is the best damage modeling ive seen. shoot left wing- left wing falls off, shoot tail-tail falls off. In AW, shoot anything- whole plane blows up.

Of course there will always be room to improve, & I agree that there are some problems,  as a yak pilot my radiator pops from very odd angles as well. But this is the best there is & im sure they are working on improvements. But IMO the modeling is the best ive ever played.

Ford Motor Co. didnt go from producing the modelT to producing the Excursion over nite, the technology grew with time......

Il2's DM is nice, and different... but it's nothing but a series of fudged numbers from the point that the first damage occurs until that part breaks off.

Otherwise, it's identical to AH.

ah has 3 points of damage on the wings aileron wingtip whole wing. IL2 is about numbers like ah but alot more of them. A whole in the wing in il2 while a good graphic actually effects flight.

I think when people in ah ask for a new dm they arent talking strictly visual graphics. They are asking for more "numbers". The only thing that really bugs me about the DM in ah is that bombers are easy kills. I are were to ask for an improvement in would be for the bombers.

As for fighters except for the occassional seemingly 1 ping hispano kills (or parts flying off) I think it works well.

To me gunnery range is more of a concern. But you can argue that this is a result of range counters, icons and hit sprits.

Yup.. but in Il2 if even the smallest part of your wing becomes detached (say a wing tip)... the plane is immediately uncontrollable.

While there were several instances of planes coming back to base with in excess of 5 feet removed from a wing in WW2...

I think it is a good balance of realism and gameplay

would like to see improvements in ship damage, should be able to kill its ack without having to sink the ship
