Hey man.
Okay...I took your advice. I bought Battlefield 1942. I told my son about it, got him all psyched. I loaded it with him standing in front of me eagerly watching the screen for the starting graphics.
It looked like stuff was happening at first...a little splash screen appeared..then...poof. CTD.
Tried again. CTD.
Rebooted computer. Tried again. CTD.
To the message boards...saw EA GAMES.
(still bitter about Air Warrior)...figured..well, okay it will be worth it.
Tried to create an account to post on BB...seems like every "handle" but butthead45777776 was taken..all the way through to putting in address etc. It won't accept my very valid, but definately not US, postal code.
Browsed the BB in "guest mode"...found the issue, but the various threads containing the answers were filled with so many opinions that I couldn't tell who was full of s_it and who wasn't.
Tried to register my copy for tech support...US Canada Austrailia are the only acceptable addresses.
Gonna try a few things before boxing this baby back up.
Either you got lucky with the game (in terms of your system being able to run it no sweat), I got unlucky with the game...or you have perpetrated the perfect "gotcha" of all time. It seems to be only slightly less cruel than convincing someone WW2Online is a "load it up and go" kind of game.
I'm not really pissed...this stuff happens. It's just...aarrgg...arrggg...AAAR
RGGG.
I WANNA PLAY IT
