Converting to AVI
« on: March 12, 2003, 10:38:29 PM »
I am having trouble converting the AH format to an avi, every time I try to play it in Real Player or Windows media it says it can't cause I don't have the right componts or it's the wrong format.  Is there anything I can do to right this.  I have the latest version of Real player and Windows.  Is there another Codec to play these?  Also can you change the views from gun to an external and it will show up that on the final version?  Trying to make vids for my squads webpage.

Stream:

It is my understanding that the AH film files are recordings of game code events. When you hit Alt-R, the AH software starts copying all the game events... aircraft positions, terrain, and 3d object states(blown buildings), VOX coms, text coms, etc. to a file that HiTech calls a film file. When you run the film viewer, the the AH game code replays all the events and renders video frames that your video card displays. So, it looks like a video replay, but really isn't. Avi, quicktime, and mpeg are actual film codec types. So, you have to capture the AH game generated frames to one of the film file formats.
There is software out there that will record what is displayed by your video card and transform it into avi, quicktime, or mpeg formats, but the name escapes me at the moment.

Go into the AH stand alone film viewer (not the film button on the clipboard)

The stand alone film viewer is there so you can convert to avi.

its in your htc/ah file

goto  start / programs / Aces High / Aces High Film Viewer

Then open the film, or you can go into your films folder and click on the film and the film viewer will start.

You can read the manual to figure the rest out of search this forum going bac to the beginning to figure out what you need to do.

The film button on the clipboard just lets you review films in a full screen format and will not convert to avi.

I understand the whole film viewer program and the one that is on the clipborad, in the film viewer program there is a button you can push that says save as AVI.  Now I took that as being able to convert it to an AVI that can be played in other players.  Maybe you can't do that...
