Like many of you, I have a small network at home. I have 4 static IPs; I have a maillserver which runs DHCP for anyone who needs to connect.
My mailserver is *really freaking old* since it's always constructed of old parts I've saved from days gone bye. I decided to replace my mailserver with a new box and wanted to avoid the expense of a P4. But, I have a nice central heating system in my home, so I didn't want to installl an AMD cpu. It's summer anyway, so no point in making the a/c work harder.
Instead, I bought a "soyo bare bones" system. It came with: 128 meg ram, case, power supply, 667MHz Via C3 CPU (guaranteed not to dissipate more than 10 watts), power cord, onboard video and onboard sound. It cost $79.99 and I got it from TigerDirect. It works great!
It occurred to me than many of you have youngsters. If you have a spare monitor/hard drive/keyboard/cdrom/mouse, man, you have a very inexpensive system.
