A very common occurrence on this board as well as in the media at large is the ongoing criticism of the Bush administration policies deserved or not....I do not have a problem with this at all...I believe it to be a healthy exchange of ideas.

Nowhere is it more prevelant than among the Democratic Presidential candidates. Even among the democratic talking heads on the Sunday shows, this criticism runs rampant. What is lacking are offerred solutions by the same party.

My question is to the Democrats among us....criticize all you want....what is missing is an offering of what you believe should have been done instead of the current administrations actions, to solve the threat or crisis in point.

Let's take just one for the purpose of this discussion...Iraq and it's rebuilding...not whether or not we should have been there in the first place, but specifically what should be done to achieve the goal of establishing peace and a working government and economy for the Iraqi people.

To simply criticize the Bush administration in hopes of getting elected, yet not to offer viable alternatives is empty.

Speak Democrats....tell me how you would achieve the abovementioned goal.

If we can't establish peace and a working government here at home why the hell spend a billion dollars a week to fail in Iraq?

Why do you think we don't have peace and a working government here? It's been almost 150 years since a state left the union and we killed each other over it. Of course we may have to kick California out but that's beside the point. ;)

I think it is about time the Bush admin starts soliciting the UN for help in Iraq. I know they have started this and I think it is a good thing.

Well, I'll speak up as Democrap.... Mind you I hate..hate politcal discussions. But I'm gonna bite...

I can say I'm not happy with any of the potental 'candidates'. At this point, I would vote for Bush. As I did before.  I can not say on this board with out getting banned how much I detest Al Gore.

Reguarding the Gulf War Part 2.... It's what needed to be done in the first place that Bush Sr. didn't do. Was it the democrap's fault for not letting Bush Sr. finish off Iraq.  I dunno.. I don't really care.

Could the war have been handled differently with the UN. With out or with  the need for WMD. I'm not sure. I do know man killed innocent people.. the mass graves speak for it's self. The guy was a Hitler type. Why do I say that, extermiation of a cult of Kurds several years ago.  We know he used WMD. He also, use them on his own people.

I like the fact that, once Iraq is stableized in several  years. It should be a good oil producing country.  Was that's Bush Jr's goal to get oil? I don't really think so, or at least how I feel about it.

And that is my politcal view.

Should the UN be in Iraq.  Yes.

Well thanks to those who posted....I knew this would be a small thread.

BTW....this move by Bush to include the UN is self serving and political in nature....reality is that we could accomplish our goals alone in Iraq....the problem, it serves Bush poorly in the end. He and he alone will be held accountable by history. The UN will not cooperate to achieve the same goal as the US. If you think it's mucked up now, just wait.

What's that about a house divided?

Since it's campaign season don't expect much in the way of suggestions for solutions to the situation in Iraq, that debate will come next year when the parties canidates are selected.

Right now the focus for the Dems is to take back the WH so they'll be in a position to implement their fix whatever it may be.

Asking for a solution from the Dems or even from those Reps who are at odds with Bush's policy at this point only will serve an agenda....that of lambasting and skoffing at the suggestions from those who are in opposition to this administration.

You can bet that Wes Clark, as well as others, if he decides to challenge first the other Dems then Bush, WILL have a clear and concise plan to mitigate the Iraqi problem. This will be a major part of the Dems push to the WH because it simply cannot be ignored.

Now, you asked not to comment on how we got there but that is the reason there is this problem now. If it weren't for the Bush administrations rush to 'liberate' Iraq < a concept that I agreed to but not the method nor the reasons fed to us > there wouldn't be any need to 'ask' for the UN to step in and the situation would not be as dismal as it is now...IMO.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear this is the humble opinion of a gun totin' Lib who fought for this great country.
