If so, you know the quickest way to get from there to Amarillo Tx?  A friend of mine is coming up to visit and was wondering the easiest/quickest way. Udie, you live close don't you?

Estes,  I live about 13miles north of Lockhart, just off Texas 21.

There no such thing as a quickest way to get to Amarillo from anywhere in Texas, except for maybe Lubbock.   I didnt even know anybody still lived up there anyway.

His best bet is to use Mapqwest.
Just off hand, I would say north on I35 to Ftworth then West on I-40 but I would have to look at a map to see what Highway goes from I-40 to Amarillo.

jeez there's no fast way to get there man.  We used to go to San Angelo, which is KINDA close to Amarillo, well closer than Austin :D

 I'd go w/ mapquest, or a state map :)

I'm sure there are shorter routes, but I-35 to I-35W to 287N.would be your fastest route. It's major 4-lane all the way. Taking the smaller roads that run a more direct route will kill you on time going thru the small towns.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
