Game balance...
« on: November 28, 1999, 10:40:00 AM »
Just came from arena and I must say I wasn't ejoying
Reds 25, Greens 10, not good.
Why people can't look the balance and then decide their country ? It isn't so hard, after all you can still fly and fight.

For example, I'm a member of JG-3, which flies for reds, but I haven't flown for reds sooo long time, because of greens always are outnumbered

I quess there's not much to do about balance, not any possibility to adjust balance from server ?
I know, still beta, but has anyone any suggestion how to make game balance more equal ?

R u sure you're talking about Aces High here?  Last I checked all friendlies are green and all enemies (either other country)are red.  You might want to look at the roster to get accurate numbers for each country.  I'd have to agree about the balance though, it is off most of the time......stupid rooks...lol

Uhmmm,

25 foes + 10 friendlies = 35 players

35/3 = (say) 12

ergo ---> your not outnumbered, unless you wanna attack the whole world.

Duck is right..

Being outnumber is not a bad thing.

Being outnumbered & flying poorly is a bad thing

Janneh,
what could be better then letting the players decide the numbers as they log on?
Get your squadies to go to the underdogs with you.
Most of those guys on the out-numbered countries are kickin but and having fun. If you have 4-5 planes that agree what they are going to accompish the rest of the roster doenst really matter.
It would be neat if extreme superiority releases special "secret weapons" on the out numbered side.......
Server: Rook numerical supperiority has released the<Martin Baker MB5> for use by the Knights.

Server: Bishop and Knight extreme supperiority has released the <F-86F> for use by the Rooks

Janneh,

Whenever I fly the bishops and rooks are always beating the hell out of each other but generally 15-20 people in the arena and the Bish/Rook ratio is usually even.  I mean the damn Bishops have Jekyll, Wardog and Voss on their side, <hi fellas>, (but we have Mitsu and Misty and Ypsilon and Fishu and well, even me =).  However the knights only ever seem to have one or two pilots on and generally get ignored by both sides.  I find that the number of bullets in the air heading my way tend to outnumber the rounds travelling in the opposite direction, (can I claim that as being outnumbered?).

As for the green/red issue.  *All* enemies are red.  *All* friendlies are green.  It doesn't matter which country you fly for.

So if your flying at about midnight PST then come fly the friendly skies.

This is the same thing that happened in WB, it's just a 3 cornered fight instead of 4.  The squealing Pigs chose to fly in Rooks months ago when Rooks were nearly always outnumbered 2-1.  The tide has turned as it always does, but right now we don't have much of a reason to change countries.  We're certainly not going to go around changing countries all the time just because the country we're flying for happens to have more players on a given night.

Fly for who you want, for whatever reason. If a place is too crowded go somewhere else to fight. It's a big arena, and there is bound to be action at an acceptable level somewhere.

I owe allegience to no country; you might see me on any side. I just look at the map when I arrive to decide where I will find the amount of action I want.

Take tonight. I had flown Knights last night and popped in (still a Knight) and noticed that there were at least 8 B-17's launching a raid from 9. Now, many times I've munched on such a juicy target, but tonight I grabbed a P51 and decided to work the escort side. Now such a mess of blips was bound to draw prompt attention, and it did. The Spits, Macchi's, and 190's came in, and I'd say things pretty much evened out. I don't know if the B17's hit anything, or even if they ever intended to for that matter... I bagged 3 and landed. Two more sorties, 2-3 more planes, landed all times.

Did we outnumber them? In that region, yes. Did they complain? Hell no! In fact, had I played the other side I would have been thrilled to see so many 7K buffs rolling in. I'm sure everyone had fun, and tomorrow I might be a Bishop and hit the bombers.

Play it within the rules, but in the end the numbers will vacillate night-to-night. As long as no one resorts to cheating it can be fun!

Well, of course You're right. I was little pissed off, when wrote this topic. More specifically, I think I was pissed off to myself as I started on a capped field again and again and again.
And those bastiges as Hristo & Co were shooting my bellybutton off

It was really fun for a while "shoot down as many enemies as possible before You die"- things, good old furballing, heheh.

Btw, didn't knew that all enemies are reds !
RTFM, RTFM, RTFM ........

cu up there !

We could use some fields and fun terrain in the middle of the map to draw all three sides together.  You could still fight on the fringes but it would be nice to have most of the fighting in the middle where everyone can participate without having to fly forever.

Which team are Rooks?

I open the "Roster Page" and I see Bishops, Knights and Rocks, spelled out very carefully.
