Question Brady...>>>???
« on: September 23, 2003, 06:36:26 PM »
Why Such leathal PUFFY ACK?

Why such radical puffy ack's?   Does this balance out something?

Today I upped A24 grabbed out NE lookin to catch low fiters up from nearby CV.  Climbed up to 8K headed towards the fite.  OTW I was pinged twice by the puffy ack  .
Then I spot a F6F above me by 5K!!  The fite is on.  After making him overshoot I get on his 6 and get five good pings in on him then dive away.  We both separate and grab some alt back  .
At the next merge I am in a perfect position to fite, and start my lead turn.  BANG!   POOF!   TOWER! you been killed........ that S.O.B. that was going to die just recorded a kill on me and never pinged me once!!@

The Above = No Fun = Waist of time!

So if there is some sort of balancing purpose to this frikin incredible, what i call   "popcorn ack" then i guess i understand.

If not....... then why fly online ....when i can fly offline and git keeled by AI   :D   And not waist my time getn alt so i can engage that 20K allied weenie!

Ok off my soap box!    Question  PUFFY ACK  WHY?????

Manedog

>S< for all your time and efforts   greatly!! appreciated

If you got a Kill mesage most likely it was a maned 5inch gun that nailed you.

The Fleats on this map are Big, they nead to be to suport the Allied sea based air units, since their are more ships in a fleat, their is as a result more Flak producing platform's, so we have denser flak envelops as a result, this means that thier is a greater likelyhood of being hit in the first place by this Flack, their is no way to adjust this, save sinking one or two of the enmy ships in a fleat which realy reduces the flak, or at least seams to.

My advice is to stay low, under the Flack envelope, or stay out of it.

Why Such leathal PUFFY ACK?

Cos it pads my score nicely thank you ;)

As for overshooting i find its usually better to overshoot a zeke keep your E and trust he's a crap shot than to stick in a close fight and certainly die :)

And the best way to kill a zeke is when he never see's you :)

What made it even funnier was it appeared to be your own AAA that killed you as it was firing at me :)

Ty for your reply brady

As I posted above i was right over A24 and the cv was 1/2 sector out to sea........Not manned ack.....I knew it was Cav I was fighting in F6F and he registered the kill on me....:(

So far this map I have been 1 ping killed by popcorn ack at least 20 times and have 4 or 5 films of it...... as well as the film from the above mentioned fite.

Again I ask is there some balancing factor put in place to even something out for the allies?   If not why take away a good fite with AI???/     Please lower popcorn ack leathality.

Thank You

BTW Cav  I was the N1K1 not the zeke....and after your overshoot you had powder burns on ya ....)

As for padding your score   N/P    as long as 50% of the time we fite you die in popcorn ack   :D

Then we be even......So if we wernt even and you need popcorn ack to help you kill me .....again I ask Why....what balacing purpose did this perform within your and my fight??????

The standard MA type fleet produces 8 flak puffs per salvo. 2 from the CA and CR respectively, 1 from each of the DDs. You were flying over C1 when it was undamaged which produces something like 20 flak puffs per salvo. Perhaps even more... 4 CAs, 2 CR, 8 DDs if I remember correctly. So to back Brady's comment up yes killing a ship or two will thin the flak cloud out.

There was no Allied late night milk running. Brady set the bases south of V17, inclusively, to Allied bases so that we could see more of the map. Actually, what really happened was that there was Axis late night milk running that took back all the V bases down to V15. As for A20 I captured that by myself while everyone was busy screwing around on Okinawa. So much for SA. I suspect that I'll see all these bases recaptured by tomorrow morning after another round of Axis milk running thanks to certain persons who shall remain un-named in this thread (Hint: see other thread for names of two such Axis players) We'll see how the map looks tomorrow morning. I'm expecting to have to recapture the Okinawa foothold personally.

He may well of been awarded a proximaty kill, but those dont count for anything, they just look good when you land, they have no effect on rank or perk's.

Jazz? I hope you realize that what you said up there was incredibly immature and unappropriate.

People on both sides milkrun. Its a fact of the CT. Get over it.

It's not his rank that concerns me  :)   It's mine  and the PUFFY ACK kill counts the same against me as if he'd a shot me down.

Nothing immature or unappropriate about my statement at all. Did I use vulgarity? Unverifiably slander someones honor? Nope. Heck, I didn't even name names. As for the milkrunning I don't care which side does it. It is wrong. No one around to fight? Fine grab some ord set your mission type to attack and go pork a field.

Finally, since ManeDog choose to comment on the Allied Milkrunners I thought it best to explain to him what the real situation was rather than allow him to operate under this false pretense. We didn't do it... Brady did it... and one of your squadmates was trying to undo it.

Mane i gotta say you were really unlucky popping like that, as much as i hate the AAA (mainly because it hurts my ears :)

It is rare to die in it IF you continually alter your vector, hold a steady course or even a steady rate of turn and it will zero in on you.

I was as surprised as you but rather more amused than you at the time ;)

Lol i kept looking around and just could not see you anymore until the text buffer lit up :)
