Request for Oct 24 setup: FinRuska
« on: October 16, 2003, 08:24:22 AM »
Hi guys!

One of the biggest annual aviation events here in Finland is held at the Finnish Aviation Museum during the weekend of October 25.-26.  The Finnish Virtual Pilots are of course there to introduce the visitors to WW2 flight sims.

On behalf of the Finnish Virtual Pilots, I'd like to request Kanttori's awesome Finruska "FinRus Autumn" map to the CT for the weekend. This would assure that the event visitors would get a good picture of Aces High. Maybe we could even get a few new pilots hooked on AH. :)

Thanks!

Hey There,

My set-up comes up on Oct. 25th so I would change it some time after Midnight on the 24th my time (Central Time USA). Think that will make it 7 or 8 am your time.

I had planned to do NORWAY 1944 but am always willing to work with people to help the CT. Have heard a lot of folks asking for another Fin/Rus set-up anyway.

Drop me an e-mail and we can work out the details or have Kanttori do it. My personal e-mail link is under the squad website link on my signature below. (Not the CT Staff link.)

If we do this you have to show all the new Finnish pilots you get interested in AH the JG 3 "UDET" website and make them sign the guestbook.  :D

The good historical setups with the current Aces High planes we can make to FinRus maps are always between years 1943 (winter) - 1944 (summer).

The only (used by) Finnish planes in AH are Hurricane I (Finns got them February 1940), Bf 109 G2 (from March 1943), Junkers Ju88 (from March 1943) and Bf 109 G6 (from April 1944).

That's why we must use FM2 as Brewster Model 239. It was our main and best fighter 1940 - 1943.

The other planes Finns had were Curtiss Hawk 75A, Fiat G50 and Morane Saulnier. We had also Blenheim I bombers. After they have added to Aces High we can make the early war setups between 1941 - 1943.

But I think the 1943 - 1944 setups are versatile because of the Soviets' Lend Lease planes and the Germans' aircraft in these maps.

I sugges one interesting idea I have read in these forums:

1) Start the FinRuska Autumn 1943 setup (Friday-Sunday)
2) Switch to FinRusW Winter 1943-1944 setup when it's quiet moment (Monday-Tuesday)
3) Switch to FinRus Summer 1944 setup (Wednesday-Thursday)

You can change the current captured airfields to the new map and the war is going on with different seasons!

Also the plane setup is changing and better planes are coming to front lines when the week is going on. It gives a nice variation to the landscapes and plane setups. Here is an example:

AUTUMN 1943

Rooks (Finns):
Bf 109 G2 (couple of fields), FM2 (Brewster), Hurri I, Ju 88 and C-47
Rooks (Germany):
Bf 109 E, Bf 109 F4, Bf 109 G6 (couple of fields) Fw 109 A5 (couple of fields), Bf 110 C4b, Stuka, Ju 88 and C-47

Bishops (Russia):
Hurricane II, P40 E, P40 B, IL2, La5 FN (couple of fields), Boston III and C-47

WINTER 1943 - 1944

Rooks (Finns):
add nothing
Rooks (Germany)
add Bf 109 G6 and Fw 190 A5  to all fields and Bf 110 G2 to couple of fields

Bishops (Russia):
add La5 FN (all fields) and Yak 9T (couple of fields)

SUMMER 1944

Rooks (Finns):
add 109 G2 (all fields) and 109 G6 (all fields)
Rooks (Germany):
add Fw 190 F8 (all Estonia fields), Bf 110 G2 (all fields) and Bf 109 G10 (couple of fields in Estonia?)

Bishops (Russia):
add Yak 9T (all fields),Yak 9U (couple of fields) and A20 G Havoc (couple of fields)

What do you think about this idea?

You have OBVIOUSLY never set one of these maps up for the CT have you Kanttori? Especially with your special plane set at each field.

Will see what Camo wants to do and we can go from there. Have yet to hear from him.

This is the most recommendations for setups I've ever seen from you. I mean between the Sesame Street and Scooby Doo stuff and this one ... it's a hard choice`tween Skyfoxx's, Squire's and all yours. I'll back you, though. :D

it seems everyone has a "request" :p

But I suspect unless it comes from folks like kanttori and the Fins (including Camo) of course or Reschke's group then the "individual" will just get ignored.

Atleast with this request and Reschke's these were worked on as a group. Anyone just starting a thread "Can we have a moon terrain with 262s as starfighters and 163s as x wing fighters that takes place at night will just be ignored."

Sorry to hijack..........

:D
