Graphics resolution options...blah..blah...

I mean... i have a 3D card, ok. But its not that great. I hate to play a game when its  run kind in slow motion and im not the only one.
So, its very important to let players set the graphic detail (less or more detailed) to improve the fps.

Q)Will AH have a option to set the graphic resolution?

Right now you have the option of 3 different resolutions. Which three (maybe 4? ) will be used I don't think has been finalized yet.

Right now the game supports 640, 800, and 1024 resolutions.  Interestingly, I get about the same FPS in all resolutions.  25-30 FPS with an AMD K6 450 and Voodoo III 2000 (PCI) card.

There is an option that allows you to stop drawing the far away terrain.  This pops my FPS above 60 fps.  The guys using TNT2 AGP cards are generally getting 60fps at 1024 with full detail.

The detail changeing is done by how far out you can see the terrain. There are keys to change this range from 20 Miles ,normal,
to 4 Miles there s also a mid range but I don't rember exactly its distance.

The CPU is pleanty i run a PII 333.

The video card will run it but it's only going to do around 20 FPS. Where an 8meg VoodooII would do around 30 - 40.

to pirado : don't expect too much from your Diamond Fire GL 1000, it's based on a Permedia 2 chip that is really lagging  now reg d3d performance compared to recent chips. even at 640*480 it'll be a pain.

get anything based on TNT2 or Voodoo 3, it should be largely ok for 1024*768 resolution.

personally I'll swith to GeForce 256 from my TNT2 when it come out (hoping AH will someday make use of Dx7 T&L ?)

I just picked up a V770 ultra, and when I installed it I found that I did have a free pci slot after all, so I also have 2 voodooII's   This winter I plan on overclocking my pII450, the v770 and the 2 VoodooII's so i can cut down on my heating bill.

I must admit I'm impressed with the V770 ultra, I love the fact that you can configure diffrent clock speeds and settings for each game.

Now all I need is a good joystick and throttle combo. I hear Saitek has a new USB version of the X34 control system coming out in late october, I think I'll hold out for that.

My AGP FireGL 1000 Pro needed a Creative
Voodoo II pci add on to keep up with the
current slew of sims this last year.
The FireGL1000 was decent a year ago and
prior but iot just doesn;t cut the mustard
any more.
 At www.buycomp.com  you can buy a 3dFx
Voodoo II 1000 for $99.95 and mail in a $30
rebate for a real decent price of $69.95.
