We're having the same stuff over here. Largest imigrant populations here are from north africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt) and this debate about muslim girls wearing veils in schools has been going on for years now... untill the Gvnmt decides to put up a law abiding it.

I, personaly, have no problem whatsoever with any one wearing any kind of hat he wants ... but most poeple here seem to have a problem with it.

the same way the US separated church and state, "France" wants to eliminate any religious bias in its education system.

That position was taken to an extreme, but it still makes sense, and not just in a communism sort of way.

The concept of a seperation of church and state was to help give religious freedom, not to ban it from public life.
