I'm a VW owner, my first Jetta ( 98 ) was mexican build, it burned though oil, oxy sensors went and took our MAF, it was a mess. All covered under the warranty no problem.
My new Jetta ( 2001 ) was assimbled and shipped in from Germany, I had to wait few weeks extra but it was worth it.
No problems at all.
Service and dealing with VW of Americas was just fine, can't really complain.
If you're going to get a Jetta, get one made in Germany.
