First off, I haven't flown CT in a long time but thought of the CT when I was reading through George Odger's history of the RAAF "Airwar against Japan 1943-45"
The plane sets they used seemed like they might bring some variety to the Pac. Not knowing if these have been done before, I figured I could at least throw the info out there and folks could react to it, or tell me what I could do with it
First is 3 Tactical Air Force flying in Burma in the summer of 44. Planes they were using were razorback Thunderbolt I's, Hurri IIcs, Spit VIIIs (essentially the IX) and somewhat to my surprise, Mossies with 45 Squadron.
Obviously the Japanese were using anything they could get their hands on or had left at that point so it allows for everything Japanese flying in AH.
Then there is 1 TAF flying in the summer of 45 against Borneo.
They were flying Kittyhawks (P40E), Spit VIII, Mossies with #1 Squadron. (Beaufighters too but obviously no go in AH) They also had some US escort carriers helping briefly which would allow for FM2s and TBFs.
Once again the Japanese would have anything they could find
While I suppose it could disolve into nothing but Spits vs Nikis, it does present an interesting contrast in aircraft being flown. And just the idea of potentially RAAF skinned Spits, P40s, T-Bolts, Hurri's and Mossies sounds good
Food for thought
