Stick recommendation for another game? (Gasp!)
« on: February 23, 2004, 12:52:24 AM »
In spite of what I said in another thread about not having anything to do with cheaper joysticks, I'm actually in need of one.  :)

I'd like something USB with both an onboard throttle slider of some type and rudder control (preferably a twisty stick.)  I regularly go to LAN parties and would like to have something to control the planes in Battlefield 1942 and Crimson Skies.

I've gotten my LAN party rig down to a small aluminum box and an  LCD screen which both fit on an awesome little rolley-cart toolbox sorta thing that hols all my other crap such as the Nostromo N52 Speedpad, flexible keyboard, mouse, etc.  One small self contained wheeled load is all I wanna cart around to LAN parties anymore.  I'm not one of the geeks who shows up hours early becuase he's gotta make 10 trips to his car so he can drag in his giant tower system, 21" monitor, UPS, and 2 dozen Lego Star Wars models to place all over his game space.

Anyways, I don't need anything special to play the small handful of games that call for flight controls.   USB, fairly inexpensive, reliable, and with a throttle control.  Doesn't even really need a rudder I guess, but that'd be nice.  POV hat and a coupla buttons are pretty much standard these days I guess.

I'd like to hear some recommendations so I can have an idea of what I should go look for.  Or stay away from.

Thanks.

Logitech & Saitek both make inexpensive sticks with rudder & throttle.

MS I hear is getting out of the sidewinder line which is my favorite.  :(
