I give it a 1.5 on the Ripsnort Stinkbait scale. Far below the minimum requirement.

Clearly, Kerry decided to give up his Senate seat before he decided not to.

If you remember....Congress adjourned for the Holidays last year and failed to vote on extending unemployment benefits before they adjourned.

One state...Wisconsin voluntarily extended their benefits in hopes that Congress would pass to extend.

Folks....it isn't one party that doesn't care, it's both...by the way, in the last 7 years they've voted raises for themselves 4 times.
This fact alone should tell you how much they care about the everyday working american........they've got theirs, why should they worry about you getting your meager unemployment benefits if needed??

Yes, but if the handover occurs on time, then we managed to adhere to our timetable, regardless of the fact that there's no way Iraq is ready for self-rule again.

OTOH, if we don't turn it over on time, regardless of what the situation is, I believe that it only adds  more credibility to the argument that we've got a tar baby on our hands.

from msnbc Pentagon seeks increased financing for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2005, but some senators alarmed over issuing a ‘blank check’ to the Bush administration.

if we are pulling out in June why would we need 50B to spend there next year?

On a 59-40 vote in the GOP-controlled Senate, they fell just shy of the 60 votes needed to overcome objections that extending the benefits violated last year's budget agreement.

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, was the only senator who missed the vote. Kerry was campaigning Tuesday in Kentucky.

my my what a crock

Look closer Rip, because that vote was a scam.  Repubs changed votes knowing they had were going to prevail.  They got together and counted their votes beforehand of course.  Then a few change so it looks closer than it really was.  Its not a new trick.  It is an illusion to make Kerry look bad, and it fools the ignorant and misinformed while providing fodder for the other side.

Smoke and mirrors

Kerry has already responded that he would bring the vote back to the floor if those repubs would not change their votes.  We shall see, but I bet they won't bite.
