Please pass my condolences on to his family ( Big Spitfire Fan and Lover Of the Spitfire ) This is a sad day for the aviation historical society.
Not only have we/ They lost a Family member. We may have lost an idol as well.
I hope that in future the pilots family decieds to restore the Spitfire as a true mark of respect to a great man

That Spit 18 has only been in Norway a short time. No doubt the plane will be rebuilt. You can't replace the pilot though

Bertil Gerhardt had over 31.000 flight hours prior to this accident
This , another spitfire , and a p51 was owned by a Swedish retailer company ( Biltema) , and are hangared in the south of Sweden

What a shame. Perhaps he ground looped the plane; an easy thing to do with the mains being so tight. My condolences to his family & Friends...
