vid cards for dummies

i know how a computer is used not what makes it work..........all teh posts i;m seeing is kinda over the top for me about what cards to use...........i know mine dosnt work and i have a basic computer
celeron with 2.0gig
246mb ram??

oops.......... just what kinda of vid card to use..........what do i need to look for as for specs............

the best i've seen so far is friend's comp. with radeon 9800 pro, but my basic 9200 runs AH2 around 40 fps all day at 1280 by 1024 res. with details cranked up. also running 1 gig ram and 2 gig cpu. but id go with at least 128meg video card as AH2 will stretch a 64meg to its limits, i've seen it using as much as 62mb before.
