Ground Attack Damage Model Info
« on: January 02, 2001, 04:06:00 PM »
Is there any website or FAQ that tells us
what kind and how many bombs it takes to
destroy most targets.  I'm wondering what it takes to sink the various ships and CV.  Is there any single place where we can get this information?

In the training arena, I have released numerous torpedos from the PT boat into the
sides of ships with no effect.  Is this bug being addressed ?

despite whatever the modeling in AH is a 1k bomb dropped from high enough to achieve its termina velocity (say 8k??) will demolish almost any ground target certinly hangars, any would put severe hurt on any vessal, as for ground vehicles I dobut anything but MABY tha panzer could take a hit from a 100 pound bomb the panzer would probably be dead to though.

It's all about arena settings, and I would just like to know what they are so I will know what I and the squad will have to do to kill an object, sink a ship, or take a field.

For example, in WarBirds, you can bomb a CV all day long and it will have absolutely no effect on it unless you kill the escort ships first.

Some of this stuff  could take a really long time to learn by trial and error, and I'm wondering why HTC does not post this information on their website.

Just info:
Thats wrong, CV`s gets sunk all the time with escorts still around (WB).
(like multiple times yesterday off F26)
Escorts turn for home.

Used to be an requirement to sink all escorts first to achieve 'fleet capture' for arena`s with 'capture' enabled.

Never heard of CV`s invulnerable because of escort status, whenever it gets hit it takes damage.

OK, I'll concede that they have probably changed the damage model again in the WarBirds arena for the umteenth time, but getting back to the original subject of my post:

IS THERE ANY SINGLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION AVAILABLE THAT WILL TELL US WHAT IS REQUIRED TO KILL OBJECTS, STRUCTURES, AND SHIPS IN THE ACES HIGH ARENA?

If not, Why not ?  Are the damage model settings in the online arena the same as the offline arena?

On the Warbirds issue (I couldn't resist): The CV itself is invulnerable to bombs (you can only destroy the acks mounted on the CV). It can only be sunk by torpedoes.
Escort sunk = escort waits at port for CV to die
CV sunk = escorts head back to port, collect CV then head out

Now, for the Real topic:
No. But, I'm sure that you could make one, just ask around the MA to get some data.
