That is caused by 1 of 3 posiblities.

1. In you windows video set up, make sure you are not set to 256 color.

2. Right click the aceshigh.exe, make sure in the properties it is not set to 256 color.

3. You do not have video drivers installed.

I got that message after I got the patch 5 update the first time I tried to run AH2.  All versions prior to patch 5 seemed to run ok.  The error only came up that first time.

I had been running climateprediction client and motherboard monitor, so I exited both of those the next time I tried to run AH2.  Dunno if it had anything to do with it since ah2 patch 4 and previous ran fine with these things in the background.

Desktop color set to 16bit-

I went to the AHexe file & right clicked, went to properties, but I wasnt able to see a color adjustment. There is only 2 tabs for me, general & shortcut. I did notice the archive box was checked though...I unchecked it & tried, but still failed, same message.

I have sent a recent DxDiag to Skuzzy at support@, he also has recieved copies of DxDiags as I made changes to different drivers & new hard drive.

Thnx all,
Anton

i hope your using dx 9.0b

and your drivers are correct   mb and video

if this is correct you can always deleate the video.cfg file in the aces high folder and reset your video as you start up the game .

It was suggested by skuzzy that I use the latest drivers
I am using directX 9.0b
Skuzzy also suggested I delete the video8.cfg, I told him I could find only video7.cfg. His respose was "There is no video7.cfg file in Aces High II, there is only a video8.cfg
file.

Aces High I had the video7.cfg file.  Sounds like something is messed up."

So while I wait overnite for next transmit,  I am going to uninstall & delete everything associated with HTC, then get a fresh D/L, Hope that works.  It sucks realizing I Just paid for a full month of AH and only used free e-mail tech help, didn't log a single second.

Anton read what Hitech have told you , go to HTC folder & right click acehigh sign & go to properties & then hit acesibility tab I think & unclick 256 color & you will be set.
