Going to Germany
« on: July 21, 2004, 11:05:35 AM »
Hey Hey -

Girlfriend and I are heading to Germany for October fest.  We are going to be there for about 2 1/2 weeks :D

The girlfriend just got her passport yesterday.  We noticed that there was a disclaimer that some countries wouldn't honor a passport that wasn't issued at least 6 months prior to arriving in the country.  Does Germany do that?

Would really suck to get over there and not be able to get in.  I've had my passport for a couple of years, so I have no problems.  Would hate to have to leave her in the airport for 2 1/2 weeks.  hehehehehe

I don't think you will have a problem with the Passport.
You could call the number listed in the link if you any questions.

If you have the time, take a bus to Braunfels (about 30 kilometers north of Frankfurt, next to Giessen).

I was born there, but the point of your visit would be to go to the Foresthaus Guesthaus.  My grandparents ran the place in the 50s.  It's set in about 200 acers of woods with trails and what not.  Braunfels also brews some of the best local beer in Germany.

There's also a midevil castle in braunfels that you can tour.

I'll have to check that out.  We are flying into Munich and staying in Augsburg.  I have a friend who lives there (active duty army).

Any other suggestions on things to see?  I want to go thru the black forest as I understand that is pretty bloody cool.
