Well mostly I've been annoyed that the engine start sounds are so long. My plane is in the air and prop spinning but the sounds seem like it's still turning over.

checked ju87 and 110 and the sounds are fine. they fade out right after the engine sounds kicks in (about a 7 second start sequence)
the only way it would sound odd is if your turning your engine off and on in flight to slow quickly..
If you're doing that, then ya need something to annoy you when you're doing that, in which case a 7 second start up sound might do the trick

No I mean the way they are set up I'm off the ground and in the air and they're still ticking over before fully catching, so to speak. Need to make them "start" faster, then speed up, so that at 7 secs they blend in properly with the full speed

the base attack warning is a little long and annoying.
Its a little bit scratchy too. I think you should definately shorten it though.
Also I think the check 6 has too much scratch to it... just a little less would be good.

i'm looking at the startup sounds an really haven't found an instance where they're are still playing when you're wheels up and off the ground.
I have shortened a few by starting a fade at around 7 seconds.
I personally think it sounds better to have some blending between the start / engine sounds than to cold stop the startup and jump right into the engine sound.
Will keep looking around.
As far as the warning / base under attack sounds been looking for some options.
Next patch I'll probably included several options for each sound including the standard ah2 default.
