Can the Aces High community help decide the next...
« on: March 13, 2000, 06:25:00 PM »
I was wondering if the Aces High community could be part of the decision making process regarding the next planes to me modeled.  It would be really fun if we could cast our vote on what we want to see next.

I figure there could be some sort of poll set up at the website here with maybe 5-7 choices of planes that HiTech Creations are considering to be the next implemented.  What do you guys think?

Of course the customers would all like it.

But you're talking to the wrong people.

Don't ya think you oughta let HTC in on your plans?

hehe, my plan is to get like 50 replies to this post all in favor it it  , LOL, then hopefully the HiTech team will see it and say "hey, thats a good idea".

The reality of it is that the 5-7 planes are planes that they choose as next I guess, we just get to pick the one we want most from thier selection.  Not as good as just giving us a free hand to pick any plane we want but still nice

would be wonderful...but I dont support it because:
A) HTC surely has a concept of balance that all of us dont have.So they know what is the best

B) Sometimes Data on planes is not accurate or difficult to get...so some planes we might want would be VERY difficult to model

C) Man,no way in this. We are going to get ALL American planes first, cuz most of you fly in them. Currently we need Japanese, Russian and Italian planes...and who is going to vote them?...very few people. AND I WANT MY FW190A-4 and D-9!!!!!

jokes apart...no, it isnt a good idea.

Ram, if you read carefully, I said 5-7 planes that they(HiTech creations) are considering next, and poll from those. Essentially we are just picking the order they arrive I guess.  Sorry if I was not more clear up there.  The system works like this, HiTech,Pryo and company sit down, decide what planes they are considering to implement next and then put the poll/vote on the website.  I too dont think they would go for us just letting us pick freely.

forgot to add one more thing:  This poll doesnt have to be done for every plane to come, even having the community pick 1 plane might be kind of neat, and I dont think 1 plane is going to upset the game balance.

Onto balance now,   I would rather have accuracy modeled in planes then worrying if everything is "balanced" . Not everything was balanced in war, p11c.'s against Me109's is not balanced or Spit V's vs FW 190 A's is also not balanced (supposedly).  Striving for accuracy should be #1.  Balance will work itself out in scenarios maybe, even then all was not always equal.

I think at some times, we'll have polls where it really comes down to a toss up for us.  As it is, people opinions in what planes we model does make a difference.  But for the most part, we are pretty opportunistic about what we do and don't plan too far in advance in this regard.

The one thing HTC has is HT and the crew log everyday. They taste the flavour in the air and are so in tuned with their product. My girlfriend lately said if HT told me to jump off a bridge I would. I replied "cause there is probably a train coming hun".

Enough said great product HTC....now set time machine to friday.

It's not a bribe.  Think of it as sponsorship.
I'm guessing $3k + materials (Cockpit photos, pain job) will probably get you the plane you want.
If you wanna economize, there are probly ways you can get that number down.
Corporate types may consider putting those luxury boxes to good use.  Or, did you ever consider the team-building potential of having your group pass a weekend in a pleasant resort location, with lectures by HTC-provided experts on squad tactics, followed by extensive hands-on training, and liberal doses of alcohol?
Those of you in the media might see if a few "fluff pieces" gets you their ear.
Those of us with links to organized crime... well, you get the picture.
