There, FD has the plausible answer (which is all that's needed in this context).  The machines have "a form of fusion" but somehow it's related to the brain turning out bio-electrical energy?  Well, no brain function, no fusion.

Either that or everyone strapped in looking at Nothing all day would go insane (bad signal, fusion no worky) or achieve mass Illumination, or both :D

I liked it the first time it came out, when it was called "Tron"

:p

I thought the first one was a great popcorn movie, and the action was the most innovated that I'd seen in a while. But by the time the 2nd and third ones came out, EVERYONE had the "shift-time-kung-fu" in their work, and it had a hard time keeping up.

But I liked the twist in the second one, I thought that was better than anything I'd thought of. I haven't seen the third.
