"You have been killed"
« on: August 17, 2004, 10:36:03 AM »
I got the above message last night that I have never seen before.  There was no message that I was shot down by anyone.
I don' t think I had anyone on my six as I was blasting away
at an nme.  I was over an nme airfield at the time.  What killed me?

Porbably large caliber ack.  The big puffy high alt ack can take you out pretty fast if you're unlucky enough to take a direct hit.  You'll be dead before you even hear it go off.

Launch.  Grab alt.  Fly over enemy airfield.  And puffy ack kills me.

You've been ackked.

Nah, I was on the deck, and did hear bullets rippin through me
(forgot to add that part, sorry).  Do the manned ack at fields
cause a death without telling you who your killer was?
To be honest, It really seemed it was a kill shooter situation.
i was landing hits on the nme when this was occuring.

Might still have been puffy ack.  Not sure if there's alt limit on puffy ack on the deck.

A manned ack death would have named the perpetrator.

Any chance you were target fixated and got nailed by a tree, building, radar tower, water tower?

sounds like  killshooter for sure.  the bullets sound little different on killshooter to me, more ricochet sounding then blunt.  always make me think,,  man that just dont sound right!  lmao!

You got killed by acks, pretty easy to figure out.

I always stress to the n00bz that it's a really, really, really, really good idea to take out the field acks before attempting to vulch.

puffy ack won't open up till you're at 3k or higher.  Manned ack will award a kill to the gunner, sounds like you either got hit by unmanned ack, which not usually but can kill you in one hit.  Or you collided with something.

If the AI ack at the field gets lucky enough to hit the pilot and in the right spot say a head wound your dead instantly.
