I think SLO ment the Iraq-Iran war in the '80, where
Saddam and Khomeini got weapons from western states
and from the former CCCP. Some people for sure got really rich
selling all that stuff to Iran/Irak.

Nah... i think SLO is referring to the '69 CIA bloody coup which installed the Baath party into power. Reagan didn't help either giving Saddam some nasty WMD and a green light for genocide of his own people but then again that Ameeerika.
