I've noticed that the Windows Update now shows the service pack for installation.

Anyone try it yet?

Upon updating the Windows Update software, I get this:

"Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773)"

Both services are started... wtf?  The "security update for dx9.0"  also failed a few months ago.

I've run it on many machines. Have had to make a few adjustments like opening port 2967 for the Symantec System Control and turning dcom on for a unified messaging system. Other than that it's fine.

I just did the big format and reinstall last weekend, and decided I'd switch from Win2K to WinXP with SP2.  It's working fine, running with Norton Anti-Virus 2003.  I turned off the firewall, and the virus-nagger in the XP Security Center.

Thanks GhostFT, it worked.  I also had some services that needed to be enabled.
