Advice on the C.202 needed
« on: October 11, 2001, 03:52:00 AM »
OK guys after month and month in a high power high speed deadly monster plane (my beloved D9), i did something funny yesterday.

I took up a C.202, it at all really felt like an ultra light plane compared to the D9.

i think i could pull incredidle G loads at 130 mph without stalling that bird.

But how to use it best?

I am also asking for advice in the Hurr (hispano versions), the bird did very well yesterday in emergency base defense (i got 2 spits and other plane, before 3 folks at once killed me  :) ), anyone has further experience yet. Especially advice on shooting at overshooting nme would be fine. Cause i can make them overshoot easily but its hard to hit something that is at d 600+ when i turned the nose back.

Just remember that in both planes, you are the angles fighter.  Work on rolling back earlier for better shots as they overshoot.  Set your convergence out and practice shooting at slightly longer ranges with the Hurri.  Forget it with the 202, it's guns suck.  Keep your convergence at 300 or less with it, and don't bother firing except for tracking shots.

One trick I pull ever now & then with a plane that is closing fastis to set it up like I'm break turning. Nose down hard left turn, only turn it into a barrel roll & bring my nose back up and around for the shot.

Especially if you can get the timeing right you can sometimes really surprise them.  :)

The best thing to do with a 202 is to trade it in for a 205 - most of the good bits you described, better power, and much better guns.

Hi guys.
Sorry but....I don't know how can you survive in your 202/205 in a contest in witch
is present a Temp for example.
That's the real, I shoot down 3 202/205 with my temp (3 vs 1).
No one of the performances of the italian birds are better than Temp, maybe only turn ability but if you fly BnZ those caracteristics counts NOTHING.

You can't decide to begin a fight, end a fight, get higher, get lower, you only can hope the Temp crash into the groud or collide with you to end the fight.

That's my experience.
What are yours ?

it has been my experience in the 202 that sometimes people do not take you seriously, they get sloppy and then they get dead. A couple of months ago. I fought a 5 kill run in a 202, you just need a little luck and alot of patience.  You absolutely have to take the other plane out of his element.  Most times if you can get a couple a pings you get the other guy nervous.  The 202s guns are sucky and it does take awhile, but you can get kills.  I have found that working low is best for me, keep your convergence in tight and maneuver like crazy.  You will get shot down alot, but you will also be rewarded with some well earned kills.  ;)

Turn turn and turn, when you're done turning with them, turn with them some more  :D

Stay away from Zekes unless you have E advantage, they turn alot better and isn't much slower, not slow enough for you to get away anyway. Quite many people don't really know about the 202, bad guns but that's all, make em turn with you then you own em.

My biggest problem with the 202 is that I never see it in the game.  This makes it difficult for me to judge its E state and get myself into a bad situation with it.  Seems kind of pathetic, but I have a squeak of a time with it most of the time I run across it.
