Aces High uses UDP packets which are broadcast only, the only problem with Broadcast type traffic, is it's the first thing the routers on the internet drop when the start to get busy. In AcesHigh this means you will switch to TCP/IP which requires and acknowledgement i.e. you sent a response for every packet you receive.
A lot of thing's can cause you to get the message that you have switched to TCP/IP like sshh said it could be a firewall or your ISP has blocked the ports but the most likely is that the ISP routers are over utilized.
