I think this is what the Army is up in arms along with lying about it to cover it up.

This charge makes me think they did destroy the vehicles as the Commander states.

Yup I felt sorry for these guys right up until I read this line:

the problem is that by recycling these abandoned vehicles they really put a cramp in the ability of some contractor to make a buck replacing them.

had they not cut into someones profits they likely would have had no problem.
