PC Struggling
« on: February 03, 2005, 05:15:11 PM »
Jeez, I'm finding AH a struggle these days. Frame rates are average at best with default settings. Funnily enough I find HL2 and Far Cry perfectly playable.

I am considering a major upgrade soon (waiting for PCIX, SLi etc to hit market properly). I just am finding AH about the toughest game on my setup right now (apart from the opening of the Stalingrad level on Call Of Duty of course :D )

2000XP
9800Pro
1 Gig ram

Wait no longer.  Unless you just want the prices to drop.  Check out this MSI MOBO.

Really, this one has everything I've been waiting for in a MOBO.  nForce4 chipset, Socket 939, SLI, SoundBlaster onboard sound, Gigabit LAN........... Put a nice Athlon 64 chip in there and a 6800 Ultra and this baby will shoot you to the moon!

I bought an FX 5700 vid card (256 meg)
$170.00

Asus K8V 754 motherboard with sata raid
$129.00

Athlon 3200 chip
$200.00

1 gig ram
$110.00 or so

$610.00: I have a pc that is 8 months to a year off the top-of-the-line..and with EVERY video setting maxed (well ok, NO animated water;) frames practically NEVER go under 60
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
