Why does UPS not knock?
« Reply #15 on: February 14, 2005, 07:54:26 PM »
I try not to use UPS.
Mainly because whenever I have either the package in question arrives late or not entirely intact.

Had a computer delivered to me from a squadmate a year ago and the box lMarked "fragile" looked as though it had been used for punting practice. CPU fan came loose and ended up screwing the Vid card.

Couple years ago I bought tickets online for a concert I was taking my son to  two weeks in advance.
Now the tickets only had to travel one state to get to me. typically by regular mail that takes 1-2 days at the most. Hell I could have driven the distance in 3 hours.

After several days I call up asking about the tickets and they assure me they have been shipped and should arrive in a few days.
So I start tracking this thing. It went from NY all the way down the east coast to Ga. Then west to Arkansas. North to Iowa SE to Kentucky, East to Virginia. then north again to Delaware. Then to Pennsy. Then to NJ.
The Day before concert Im on the phone with the ticket place and they assure me the tickets will arrive on time.
Well the next day the ticketrs still arent there. 2 Hours before Im need to leave for the concert Im back on the phone complaining I still havent gotten the tickets. So they make arrangements that if the tickets dont show up by the time I leave they will have a pair waiting for me at the concert.
Well the time comes for me to leave. Still no tickets and I have to leave like now. So I do. Ten Min later my wife calls me on the Cell phone to tell me the tickets finally showed up and now moaning and groaning how I spent $120 for each ticket ( a fact I really didnt need her to know about)
So I turn around and got get the tickets and end up at the concert just in time.

Yea they got there But not exactly in what I would call a timely fashion.

I've since sworn off UPS

:rofl

Maybe they're all afraid to interact with people?

The driver's have to watch their "time allowed's"  If they take too long between package drops they get unfavorable fitness reports.  some have even had their birthdays taken away.  draconian company really.

I ordered a $300 leather Bud Racing jacket and it was "delivered" by UPS. I live in the country and have a gate you have to open to get to the house, which is out of sight from the road. The driver threw the box over the fence and left. I found it 2 days later. I was very tempted to claim it wasn't delivered, but I'm an honest guy. DHL? No shrecking way will I ever use them again. They deliver once a week if you do not live in a metropolitan area.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

F**K brown.

Got fed up with all my stuff arriving late.  No massive round trips like Dred described, but my packaegs would sit in a hub for a couple days, apparently kicked into a corner they only check every 3rd day.

I've had great luck with FedEx.  Most of the time I'd get the stuff I ordered a day early.  I can only remember FedEx being late one time, and it was weather related (everything was late that week).

Yep I noticed UPS loves to let stuff sit in some hub facility for a day or two...

DHL?  Don't do that to yourself.  If your stuff isn't too heavy / expensive, then USPS Priority Mail is pretty good.  You can print out shipping labels online, and drop the packages off at the post office, or even have them pick the packages up from you (never tried the latter).  They'll even give you shipping supplies for free for Priority Mail, including boxes and packing tape.

UPS can kiss my backside...I've already posted my experiences with them, so I won't bother going into it again.

FedEx has worked great for me when I use them.  When I ship, it's reasonably priced and their ship location is close so I don't have to go to a third-party shipper and get hosed with the astronomical markup.  When I get stuff shipped to me, they always knock, and if I'm not here, I can actually pick up the package from them after 4:30pm.  Try to do that with UPS.

UPS delivery people are very snooty, they only talk to physicians or Phds, they deliver to Dr. front, Dr. back Dr. garage & Dr. side almost excluively
