Training Channel, what do you think ?
« on: February 14, 2000, 04:07:00 AM »
This is just an idea that sprung in my mind yesterday :
Could we not , by mutual agreement block a channel for "beginners" ?
Ie set channel 110 to use for poeple who are asking questions like "How fly airplane???" (Sorry, could not resist that one   ).

Meaning that I know this get's in the way of a lot of poeple (some even get rude...) when a newbie asks questions on the open channel. I personaly would volunteer to leave a "training channel" open and answer the best I can.

This would help, I beleive :
A-to Unclog the main channel
B-would be clearer for the "trainees"
C-IF we manage to get them in there

Just a thought....

Excellent idea.  Hard to implement though since we only have ONE arena and odds are that the "training field" will be under attack.

Suggest trainers pick a field far away from the action and play "grab ass" with the recruits down low.  Like in the valleys and hills around the immediate area of the base for starters.  More advanced stuff can be taken on once the newbies get the hang of flying and SA.
Practice guns on ground targets at your own base.  You can see the splashes so you know what hits and what don't.  And most of all, TAKE GUNNERY FILMS.  They show how you went right and what to avoid the next time.
When the training arena opens, something formal can be done about this mess.

Oh!  The training channel is a great idea actually, whether in RW or text box.  Glad AH has someone on the ball finally in this respect.  <S>

The training channel is a great idea IMO.  I wonder if you should actually use, say, channel 210, so everyone (not just in that country) tuned to that channel could hear you.  There is only one problem that I can see, you still need to teach them to use the radio.

It's a good idea though Saintaw.
