lockup and vpu error problems
« on: January 20, 2005, 03:30:57 PM »
I have an Sapphire 9600 pro 256mb. It has been having a problem with the game locking up and or getting a message  saying the vpu has recovered the system from they vid drivers no longer responding to the hardware.   Disk cleaner has been used to remove the previous drivers for the vid cards and the latest drivers have bee installed on my system the  is Catyalst 5.1.

Two of the messages I was given on subbmitting an error report after rebooting the system were on the following sites.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=293078#kb5

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=b2eb008a-3c0d-45d8-8ba8-b3b37af0561a&SID=11

There is only one other program I have had simular difficulties with (Call of Duty)  and that has not been on my system for a month or so.  Any thing that can be suggested would be greatly appriciated.  Also let me know what more information you need.

Mobo MSI- 6380E
AMD Atholon 1600XP
512MB RAM
Soundblaster Audigy Gamer
Windows XP home Edition

My brother has the same problem with another game.
If you find out how to solve it let me know.
I guess you run directx9c?

Try disabling fast writes?

Might want to go back to the 4.12 cat drivers, DH posters with the 5.1 drivers and 256 MB cards are having memory allocation problems.  Disabling the fast writes MIGHT help, but if it doesnt I'd go back to the older drivers.

Tried the fast write disable it  didn't work.  Plus I can't go back to 4.12 because I don't have the install program for them any more.

Skuzzy is taking a look at it; Here's hoping he can find a solution. :aok

Opps almost forgot   Thanks everyone that replied and I will post a follow up on the out come.  Take care and good health to all.

Well almost got it working properly then it has gone back to not working at all.  Everytime I try to boot the game it hangs and crashes when the aircraft are being loaded in the new startup screen.  So I may be taking a break from the game for a while.

If you are still using the 5.1 cats, download the Omega ATI drivers.  Seriously, I think its your drivers.

Turns out the problem was in the textures.  Once they were turned down to the minimun it booted up the program and I was off and flying the skies in Aces High.  Thanks for the help everyone!:)
