And just when you thought Lucas might finally stop wringing every last buck out of our destroyed childhoods (okay, it's not that bad, but ... more?!) ...

Producer-director George Lucas plans more "Star Wars" projects beyond "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith," Daily Variety said Tuesday.

The paper said Lucas told a weekend fan convention in Indianapolis his production company, Lucasfilm, will continue the "Star Wars" series with two TV shows.

He said plans call for a 3-D animated half-hour that carries on the storyline from the "Clone Wars" miniseries that Lucasfilm did for Cartoon Network. He also said his company is working on a live-action series featuring some supporting characters from the "Star Wars" movies.

"We're probably not going to start that for about a year," he said. "Like on 'The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,' we want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once."

Lucas said he would probably step away from the series after hiring producers and staff and getting the series under way. Variety said both series would be set in the years between the end of "Revenge of the Sith" and the beginning of the original 1977 "Star Wars" movie, which Lucas titled "Episode IV -- A New Hope."

It has potential...both projects. As a Star Wars geek, the mini-animated Clone Wars thing done for the Cartoon Network was excellent and I think won an emmy or two. I think that also reaffirmed Lucas' belief that he doesn't have to hold the hands of creators to get quality projects. With Lucas setting up a live action series taking place between 3 and 4 leads to limitless possibilities that George will have oversight on, but he won't be the creating force behind it.

A lot of good material has been pushed out literature wise by others. I look forward to these possibilities on the faith that it won't destroy the experience I had after coming out from seeing a New Hope back in the '70's.

I always did like the Stackpole books. Damn shame when he stopped doing the Battletech series.

I'd like to see them do the X-wing squadron series as a TV series.

Here ya go. If you're actually wanting to read some, I'd reccomend Timothy Zahn's trilogy first. The Grand Admiral Thrawn series.

My interest in Star Wars is proportional to the inverse square of the number of sequels.
