Two new additions to the periodic table of elements:

     Element Name: WOMANIUM
     Symbol: WO
Atomic Weight: (don't even go there)

Physical properties: Generally soft and round in form. Boils at nothing
and may freeze any time. Melts when treated properly. Very bitter if not
   used well.

Chemical properties: Very active. Highly unstable. Possesses Strong
affinity with gold, silver, platinum, and precious stones. Violent when
left alone. Able to absorb great amounts of exotic food. Turns slightly
green when placed next to a better specimen.

Usage: Highly ornamental. An extremely good catalyst for dispersion of
wealth. Probably the most powerful income reducing agent known.

Caution: Highly explosive in inexperienced hands!

   ------------------------------------------------

     Element Name: MANIUM
     Symbol: XY
     Atomic Weight: (180 +/- 50)

Physical properties: Solid at room temperature, but gets bent out of
shape easily. Fairly dense and sometimes flaky. Difficult to find a pure
sample.  Due to rust, aging samples are unable to create electricity as
   easily as younger samples.

Chemical properties: Attempts to bond with WO any chance it can get.
Also tends to form strong bonds with itself. Becomes explosive when mixed
with KD (Element: CHILDIUM) for prolonged periods of time. Neutralize by
   saturating with alcohol.

Usage: None known. Possibly good methane source. Good samples are
able to produce large quantities on command.

Caution: In the absence of WO, this element rapidly decomposes and
   begins to smell.

Not to try and ruin anybody's fun, but it's been reported in The New Yorker that Dubya himself has said that the rumours that the Clinton administration had ransacked or taken items from Air Force One are totally false.

Also, as the dust settles in the New White House, it has also been determined that the outgoing administration did not do anything more outlandish than the last five outgoing administrations.

It seems as if a certain amount of Tomfoolery has become tradition, like how Boy Scouts "set up" camps as they leave for the next incoming crews.

Too bad it's at the expense of our tax dollars.

That ain't Air Force One.

That's a premonition what the entire United States airline fleet is going to look like if Bush, the NMB, and PEB don't give aircraft mechanics the right to negotiate decent contracts.

Sooner than you think, the aviation maintenance profession will be in a crisis, ironically from the very companies that depend on their professional work every day, every hour, every minute.

It's going to be a Loooong summer.

In a free market economy the offered wages reflect supply, demand and an experitise/capability of an applicant. Why should someone be able to get a better deal/more secure job because he is a member of some kind of union?
Whoever does not like his/her job can quit and look for another one. Most of us do.

P.S. Creamo, when was the last time you said "this company charges more for the same trip, I will fly with it so they have more money for maintenance..."? You think the airlines are more profitable or exploiting then other companies? Just compare their return on equity or profit per employee.
I am sure they would be glad to raise wages for everyone and charge customers more. Of course they would have to fire everyone next months because people would not fly with them.

Reading your response, I can only surmise you have absolutely no working knowledge of union / management relations, the airline industry in any sense, nor the aviation maintenance profession.

We won't be offering pro/con arguments in this thread, because it will end up being instructional seminar on the aviation industry, union / management relations, industrial vs. class and craft unions etc...

Not worth it.
