I would correct one misconception in the article. The rules the Taliban have set up have no place in Islam and are, in fact, far, far harsher than the laws in Islamic nations during the middle ages.
Midnight,
The Taliban doesn't care what kinds of inconvienences are associated with their rules.
Example.
A. Women cannot work, except for a few nurses and doctors.
B. Men tailors cannot measure a woman for garment fitting.
Q> How do the women get colthing?
Men can buy imported clothing for their wives, daughters, sisters, ect, ect.
A. Women cannot be in public without a male escort.
B. Women cannot ride the same bus as a man. There are "women only" and "men only" busses.
Q> How can the woman get on a bus without her male escort?
Men excort her to the bus and then another close male family member meets her at the buses destination. Rules such as this have functionally imprisoned women in their homes.
Really, really pathetic note:
The leaders of the Taliban are scarcly educated and cannot understan Arabic and thus cannot understand the Koran. They are creating these rules based on what wackos have told them is in the Koran. They know nothing of the rights that the Koran grants women.
