I done it now...
« on: August 27, 2005, 11:44:03 AM »
With all that testing crap, i screwed everything up. I wasn't seeing a change at all, so kept playing around till it's now unplayable, lol. I know I'm at the bottom of the geek machine ladder as far as equipement goes, but at least I could play before.

Can someone just tell me what to set all this crap at, I got Vsync and AA 's and whatnots in my freaking dreams now! I hate this crap!

My crap:

Celeron 1 ghz., 512 Ram
Gforce FX 5400, (PCI), 128 MB ram.
Just installed 61.77, as per another thread.

I use 256 res., on 1028x7(whatever)
Should AA be on, or set to "application"
Same for Anti filter?
Can't see no Vsync in manager, don't know if it's on or not.
Should card slider be set at High performance, performance or quality?
What should my ingame settings be?
Vortex?
Preloading?
Sliders are always almost completely right.>>>
What boxes should be checked?or unchecked?

I had it goin good, in tower 35, took off, (24) then when I hit plane and smoked it, frame dropped to 7. So I .EF. Now in tower 11, forget about take off. Wassup with that?

Everytime some new stuff comes out I go through this, i'm NEVER using that new stuff again, once I get this back to what it was.
I used to be a fatalist,
but that part of me died.

These are suggestions for maximum performance, not necessarily best quality.

Quote
Under "Performance and Quality Settings"

Directly below your window with all the different settings is a checkbox that says "show advanced settings".  Make sure it is checked, so you can see options like Vsync.

AA set to Application Preference.

AF set to Application Preference.

Image Settings on High Performance.

Vertical Sync set to On (or application pref, by default AH will have it On).

Force Mipmaps set to Bilinear.

Conformant Texture Clamp set to Off

Extension Limit set to Off

Hardware Acceleration set to Single Display mode (unless you have multiple displays running).

Trilinear Optimizations set to On

Anisotropic Optimizations set to On

These settings should yeild max performance, although it may sacrifice some quality.  Once you have this up and running though, you can tweak from there.  If you ever have doubts as to what a setting does, roll your mouse pointer over each of the settings and you get a pop-up balloon that says "Whats This?"  Clicking on it will give you plenty of info on the different settings.
