Also you have to remember that bore sighting is an imperfect method of setting up the guns.  I am sure they test fired the guns to check the conv settings but when is "close enough" acceptable?

I remember reading some WW2 books in which they mention artillery duels between Ruskies and Germans. The shells seldom hit eachother during their flight causing nice fireworks for groundpounders below. Also mentioned in some book was losing fighters when flying through artillery barrage on the way to the target.

Also I am sure that some bullets/shells hit eachother in their convergence point, but the angle is so shallow they just ricochet a bit and continue on their way. The speed of impact is not very fast because they have similar forward speed vector and very small speed vector against eachother.

At least thats what I think. Also adding cannon shells and mg bullets in the same mix adds little flavour but should not make my "computations" too bad.

I agree with that. Of course, if one cannon shell hit the base of a slower one, it might set off its fuze...one of the potential hazards of the German mixed-gun armaments!

Why don't car's constantly collide on interstate?

Same reason, they are all basicly going the same direction, with similar speeds.

Even if a pair of bullets did "kiss" they'd impart pretty small angular velocity as a result.

Chances of a fuzed shell hitting another bullet hard enough to set off the fuze would have been pretty remote IMO.

Thats not to say it never happened.
But if your watching a swarm of .50 rounds going downrange, how would you know if 2 of them touched?

I nailed a Spitfire Mk. V flying right over my Panzer with the main turret gun one or two tours back. Had the gun at about 50 degrees I think. I laughed for five minutes. Then I thought of the guy sending hatemails to HTC about me somehow cheating and that it wasn't historical.

I laughed another five minutes.

That's not an incredible accomplishment.  I was pegging one of the LTAR's low level dive bombing B24's a few weeks back with the main cannon.

Yeah, a four engined heavy bomber. A20s are fun to thump in Pansies. This spit was pulling a slow loop over me and I hit him in the underside of his engine. Most lucky shot of my life. :D
